New Income Tax E-Filing Website: Features, Benefits, and What to Expect
The Income Tax Department has launched a new e-filing website for taxpayers, offering a faster and smoother experience for filing Income Tax Returns (ITRs). The new website, available at www.incometax.gov.in, is expected to make the ITR filing process more efficient and convenient.
Earlier, on June 7, 2021, the Income Tax Department announced the launch of the new portal, stating that it is at the final stages of the roll-out process. The department also tweeted about the development, saying, “We are as excited about the new portal as our users! We are at the final stages in the roll-out of the new portal and it will be available shortly. We appreciate your patience as we work towards making it operational soon.”
Along with the new website, the Income Tax Department has also introduced a new online tax payment system, which will allow taxpayers to make payments using multiple options such as net banking, UPI, credit card, and RTGS/NEFT from any bank account. This is expected to make the tax payment process more convenient and accessible.
The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) had earlier announced that the new portal would be launched on June 7, 2021, and the existing portal would be phased out later. The CBDT had also urged taxpayers to complete all their urgent tasks involving any submission, upload, or download before June 1 to avoid any difficulty during the phase-out period.
According to a press statement released by the Ministry of Finance, the new portal will have several new features, including:
- A new online tax payment system with multiple payment options
- Improved user interface and navigation
- Enhanced security features
- Integration with the mobile app, which will be released subsequently
The CBDT had also announced that the new portal will be available 24×7, and taxpayers will be able to access it from anywhere, at any time. The department has also ensured that the new portal is compatible with all devices, including desktops, laptops, tablets, and mobile phones.
With the launch of the new portal, taxpayers can expect a more efficient and convenient ITR filing experience. The new portal is expected to reduce the time and effort required for filing ITRs, making it easier for taxpayers to comply with tax laws.
In conclusion, the new Income Tax e-filing website is a significant step towards improving the tax filing experience for taxpayers in India. The new website offers faster and smoother ITR filing, improved user interface, enhanced security features, and multiple payment options. Taxpayers can expect a more convenient and efficient experience with the new portal.
